New Nissan GT-R E85
Going green or green with cars is not so bad to work with Cobb Tuning, Modified Nissan GT-R to run on E85 ethanol gas. Ethanol, or some would say, corn oil, a mixture of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline, which was originally developed as a bio-fuel or flex-fuel. However, E85 is an alternative fuel options for car tuning enthusiasts looking for high performance benefits of a relatively inexpensive modification. The new E85 ethanol blended carries 105 octane, and we all know what that means, more octane more power. Cobb Tuning done just that with the new Nissan GT-R to see how much extra performance can rely on a dyno.
Using the new fuel injectors replaced Cobb Tuning a stock 30% higher Deatch werks 800cc injectors. Two Walbro 255 fuel pumps are required, and a number of other components include a Cobb catless midpipe leads to prototype catback exhaust. With all this work was modified Nissan GT-R is able to 574 horsepower and 585 ft lbs torque to suppress. Cobb believes that any further debugging and tuning will result in 600 horsepower to the wheels, but nothing is guaranteed.
The following table shows the blue lines give the car as it sits in storage, running 92 octane. The red line is above the outlet, but still works for 92 octane. Now the green line shows the 105-octane ethanol, larger injectors, fuel pump and a stronger will. It's a good bet that we believe ethanol gas will be around for a while with these results, showing that the improvement in efficiency can also be excellent performance.
